Townsville has reaffirmed itself as home to one of Australia's best beaches. The iconic Strand was named Australia's Cleanest Beach at the Keep Australia Beautiful Clean Beach Awards in Sydney.
The Strand scooped the pool at the annual event, also picking up gongs in the Environmental Innovation and Protection of the Environmental Categories. It is the second time in just five years The Strand has won the awards highest honour.
