Canberra Nara Candle Festival Saturday, 18 October 2008 Happening at Canberra Nara Park | |
 |
Join in the celebration of Canberra's sister city relationship with Nara, Japan featuring six hours of free entertainment, delicious Japanese food, cultural activities and a stunning display of more than 2000 candles in Canberra's very own Japanese garden, Canberra Nara Park.
There is a range of fun and interesting activities for children including origami, calligraphy, didgeridoo and boomerang painting. You can even make your very own Japanese lantern and then participate in a spectacular lantern procession in the evening.
A variety of Japanese cuisine will be for sale on the night as well as beautiful designer Japanese handicrafts.
At dusk the scene is set for the event's centrepiece - the lighting of more than 2000 floating candles arranged in the dry riverbed of Canberra Nara Park. As the sun sets, the candles form a serene view, flickering away into the evening sky and illuminating the park in a soft glow.
Don't miss this unique event. Keep checking this site for program details and parking and transport information.
