Jazz and Shiraz Food & Wine Festival Saturday, 24 May 2008 to Sunday, 25 May 2008 Happening at Dunningham Park, Cronulla | |
 |
Rivalling the best food and wine festivals across the country, Jazz & Shiraz attracts record crowds from all over NSW. As always, world class wine, gourmet food and a fantastic line up of live jazz acts will help set the scene for a weekend jam-packed with plenty of attractions.
At the heart of the festival will be live performances from some of Australia's finest Jazz musicians including headline act ARIA Award winning artist Deni Hines, singing songs from her latest album Water for Chocolate.
Christened Australia's first lady of neo-soul, Hines has sold more than 1.3 million records worldwide and will deliver soulful sounds to lucky listeners at Jazz & Shiraz.
Another major drawcard at the festival will be one of the most exciting live bands to come out of Sydney, Watussi. Watussi will perform with their unique sound mixing Latin percussion and grooves with raw guitar and bass. Johnny G and the E Types will also perform the Memphis Soul Revue and Chilean band Martinez will offer highly energetic jazz laced with a flamenco flair and modern improvisation.
Singer, songwriter and violinist Sophie Serafino will perform, along with the Handsome Young Strangers, Nikki Kummerow and the captivating Leanne Paris with her band providing an eclectic, funky sound.
Between sets from some of the best International and Aussie jazz musicians, you can also check out the range of Australian wines on show from some of NSW and Victoria's best boutique and contemporary wineries including those in the famous Hunter region, Mudgee, Byron Bay and Margaret River.
Once your thirst is quenched, you will also be able to enjoy some of the international cuisine on offer as well as exquisite chocolate and nougat, gourmet teas and world class coffee to round out the menu.
A series of live cooking demonstrations from popular local chef Graham Kreuger will also be a highlight. The debut of the cooking demonstrations at last year's Jazz & Shiraz was a brilliant success and Graham will be back again this year with a delicious new menu.
