UCI Mountain Biking World Cup in Cairns
The spot light will be on Cairns this April when the UCI Moutain Biking World Cup hits the tropical trails of Smithfield.
Some of the world's best riders will compete in Round 2 of the World Cup between 25th - 27th April on the world class trails that wind through the World Heritage listed rainforest.

A dawn parade is held from 5.30am with wreath laying at the Cairns Cenotaph on Cairns Esplanade (opposite Cairns RSL). The Commemoration Parade will be at 9.15am from Fogarty Park along the Esplanade to Munro Martin Park, followed by an Observance Ceremony from 9.30am at Munro Martin Park.

Bliss N Eso Circus Under the Stars Tour
Hip Hop legends from Sydney; Bliss N Eso are coming Cairns Fogarty Park on April 26th as part of their 15 location 'Circus Under the Stars' Tour.
The open air performance starting at 5.00pm is set to thrill fans with live performances of their massive hits from their number one album; Circus in Sky including a special guest performance by Ceekay Jones for their latest hit 'My Life'.
Bliss N Eso will be well supported this tour with favourites Horrorshow and Seth Sentry to complete the line up.

Tanks Arts Centre Market Day
The Tanks Arts Centre present their ever popular Sunday Markets again in 2014.
The last Sunday of every month between April and November sees the Cairns Botanic Gardens Precint and Tanks Arts Centre come alive with local arts, crafts, collectables, fresh produce, art exhibitions, music, unique and vintage clothing and natural health products.
This FREE event showcases the unique and relaxed lifestyle and culture of Far North Queensland and all set amounst the beautiful Botanic Gardens.

Cairn Regional Council offers FREE Active Living Fitness classes on and around Cairns Esplanade every week including Aqua Aerobics every Monday at 6.30am at the Cairn Lagoon Pool.
This low impact fitness class is great for all ages, fitness levels and swiming abilities. All you need to bring are swimming togs and a towel.

Blues Lounge at Lilo
The Cairns Blues Festival has taken a different tone this year with the Blues Lounge Series announced instead. This will see a series of Blues Sessions held over multiple dates and locations, with the first Blue Lounge Session to be held at Lilo Pool Deck.

Cairns Children's Festival
The inaugural Cairns Children's Festival, presented at the iconic Tanks Arts Centre in Cairns, will provide a fun, diverse, unique and interactive children's programme over one day on May 4th.
Children up to 12 years will be entertained with roving entertainers, music, workshops, performances and activities in and around the tanks.
Tank 3 will house the fantastic Erth's Dinosaur Zoo show, which is a ticketed event with shows at 9.30am, 11.00am and 1.30pm.
Tank 4 will be transformed into the 'tinkering tank' with children encourage to get involved with the art-based play and workshops.
Tank 5 will offer an environment for play-acting and creativity with childrens theartre performances.

Babinda Harvest Festival
The Babinda Harvest Festival is an annual Babinda event. In this sugar town, it celebrates the start of the sugarcane harvest (mid June), as well as celebrating the harvesting of other tropical produce from our region – bananas, pawpaws, tropical flowers and vanilla to name a few.
Celebrate with the community by attending the street parade and cheer as decorated floats and marching groups parade along the decorated main street. Follow the parade to the Babinda showgrounds for a wonderful evening of country fair displays, competitions, amusements & rides, followed by one of the most spectacular fireworks displays in the North with a bar and band until midnight.

Cairns Ukulele Festival
The Cairns Ukulele Festival from 3rd - 6th July is an internationally famous festival showcasing the amazing talent from all over Australia – making Cairns the ‘Ukulele capital’ of Australia. This week long festival including free and limited ticketed events, ukulele building classes and mystery tours is about expression, art and fun.
The festival will include an attempt at smashing the world record for the Largest Ukulele Ensemble. If you are a budding musician, or just a lover of fine art and music, this is a week of performances you would be crazy to miss!

Cardiac Challenge 2014
Are you ready for the ultimate camping and recreational cycling event of the year?
This 333 kilometre route boasts gorgeous Wet Tropic and National Park scenery along with raising much needed money for our Cardiac Care Services in FNQ.
People from all over will participate in this progressive inland bike ride starting in the heart of Cairns and finishing in Cooktown with many beautiful stops along the way.
After many years of successful growth within the ride, this year we expect to see a huge variety of participants, remembering this is a ride for all ages, and all fitness levels. It’s about giving it your best shot, and improving the future for those suffering from cardiac conditions.
