Tanks Arts Centre Market Day
The markets are held on the last Sunday of every month between April and November at the Tanks Arts Centre in the Cairns Botanic Gardens Precinct. Set amid the lush, tropical surrounds of the Flecker Botanical Gardens with live entertainment, workshops and art exhibitions, the markets offer a family friendly and relaxing way to enjoy a Sunday morning and showcase the unique culture and life of the tropics.
This month the Tanks Arts Centre Sunday Markets will be focused on the body, mind and soul with stall holders showcasing natural healing products, therapists, spiritual and energy healers, massage, crystals and meditation products as well as all the regular local arts, crafts, clothing and fresh produce.

Cairns Ukulele Festival
The Cairns Ukulele Festival is an exciting and eclectic multi-arts festival celebrating a love for all things Ukulele! Held in Tropical North Queensland in Cairns; the festival runs over one week offering a number of events such as free and ticketed performances, an art exhibition, a mystery tour, ukulele building classes, and a world record attempt for the largest ukulele ensemble.

Lunch with AFL Legend Tom Hafey
On Thursday 11 July from 12 noon to 3pm, Cairns sporting enthusiasts are invited to an up close and personal lunch at Rydges Tradewinds with AFL legend, Tom Hafey.
For over 40 years Tommy Hafey has inspired and motivated thousands of individuals and teams to far greater levels of personal performance. His mantra, the four D’s – Desire, Dedication, Determination and Discipline equals Your Destination.
Rydges Tradewinds General Manager, Matt Hurley says this lunch will offer a wonderful, once in a lifetime experience to get up close and personal with one of AFL’s most highly regarded legends.
“While those who know of Tommy will be keen to come along, this lunch is also the prime opportunity for anyone seeking enlightenment and motivation in their day to day sports training or career in general.”

About Tom Hafey
- Played 67 games with the Richmond Football Club
- Coached four AFL teams – Richmond, Collingwood, Geelong and Sydney Swans.
- Coached over 500 VFL/AFL games for a 66 per cent win record
- Teams coached made 10 grand finals which resulted in four premiership and a tied grand final.
- First year as Collingwood coach, the team rose from ‘wooden spooners’ to be in the grand final.
- Three years with the Sydney Swans and he took the team from second bottom to second top for two years running.
- 18 players coached by Hafey have since become AFL coaches

Cairns Colour Run
The Color Run ™ is coming to Cairns on Sunday July 28th from 9.30am! It is a one of a kind 5km run starting in Fogarty Park with only 3 rules:
1) Anyone can participate
2) You must wear a white top
3) Get amongst the colorful fun
This fun run is less about speed and more about enjoying the crazy colours and raising funds for the Celebrate Life Foundation and Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation.
This year Rydges will be entering a team of staff members to participate in the ‘happiest 5km on the planet’ – we hope to see you there!

Great Barrier Reef Masters Games
This year from 8th to 11th August Cairns will host the inaugural Great Barrier Reef Masters Games. More than 2000 masters-aged competitors from Australia and overseas are expected to converge on Cairns to take part in this history making event.
The games will see participants compete in over 20 individual and team sports across multiple disciplines, over four days of spectacular competition and entertainment events. Cairns boasts extensive sporting infrastructure, venues and professional sporting services all set amid the stunning natural beauty of Tropical North Queensland.

Cairns Underwater Film Festival
The 7th annual Cairns Underwater Film Festival will be held on August 24th at the Cairns Civic Theatre. The festival showcases work from local and international photographers and film makers, offering a glimpse into the diverse and natural beauty of our underwater ecosystems.
The competition offers both experienced and novice photographers and film makers the chance to delight spectators with world-class imagery in multiple categories including; wide angle, macro, diver(s), young photographer (under 16 years) and international.
As the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns offers plenty of opportunities for incredible underwater imagery and the Cairns Underwater Film Festival is an ideal way to celebrate the natural beauty on our doorstep.
