Melbourne Park

Melbourne Park is best known as the venue for the Australian Open (Tennis Grand Slam tournament). The area is home many arenas including Rod Laver Arena, Hisense Arena, Margaret Court Arena, over 20 outside courts and the Melbourne Park Function Centre. Melbourne Park's venues host many sports and entertainment, functions and exhibitions.

Melbourne Park was built in 1988 as a new venue to host the Australian Open, as Kooyong, the previous venue, had become too small.  Previously known as 'Flinders Park' or the 'National Tennis Centre', Melbourne Park's primary arena (Centre Court) was renamed Rod Laver Arena in 2000, in recognition of Rod Laver's remarkable tennis career.

Every year in January the world watches over Melbourne Park as the greatest Tennis players in the world go head to head in the Australian Tennis Open to be Grand Slam Champions.
