Parliament House
Parliament House has been the seat of the Parliament of
Victoria since 1855, except for the years 1901 to 1928 (Parliament
of Australia).
It is the largest 19th century public building in Australia
and one of the finest examples of the civic architecture of the
British Empire period anywhere in the world.
Parliament House is open to the public throughout the year. When Parliament is sitting, visitors are welcome to come in and see Parliament in action. The Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly (the Houses) both have public galleries, which are open whenever the House is sitting.
Public tours of Parliament are conducted on days when Parliament is not sitting. There is no need to book for groups of less than 6 people. Public tours take place at 9.30 am, 10.30 am, 11.30 am, 1.30 pm, 2.30 pm and 3.45 pm Monday to Friday from the Vestibule.
To book a school or group tour call the Tour Booking Office on
(03) 9651 8568 or e-mail tours@parliament.vic.gov.au.
All tours are free of charge.
