Cosmic Love Wonder Lust
‘Cosmic Love Wonder Lust’ is an exhibition that brings together the artists of ‘Imperial Slacks’, an artist run collective formed in 2000.Imperial Slacks operated for five years, from 1997 to 2002, in a residential space on Commonwealth Street, Surry Hills. A curated exhibition across the Campbelltown Arts Centre and the Sydney College of the Arts,Cosmic Love Wonder Lust takes a retrospective approach, presenting exisiting artworks previously exhibited at Imperial Slacks.
The exhibition includes a forum focusing on artist run spaces, collectives and collectivity as a mode of working. An archive project, re-presenting video, photo documentation and marketing collateral will be collated from the personal collections of all of the artists, an important resource that allow audiences, many for the first time, access to the history of Imperial Slacks.
Imperial Slacks operated for five years, from 1997 to 2002, in a residential space on Commonwealth Street, Surry Hills. It was a progress platform for interdisciplinary and emergent practices.
During this time a number of artists exhibited their work, with many going on to lead successful and significant careers, including the core group at the heart of the space - Shaun Gladwell, Angelica Mesiti, Emma Price, Sean Cordeiro and Claire Healy, Wade Marynowsky, Alex Davies, Techa Noble, Michael Schiavello, Chris Fox, Melody Willis, Lea Donnan, Simon Cooper and Laura Jordan – who have come together in 2015 to revisit this time.
Taking a retrospective approach, tracing the journey of this exceptional space, exploring the collective and individual artists involved as well as the role of the artist run space, Imperial Slacks (2015) invites these artists to present existing artworks – previously exhibited at Imperial Slacks - and create a newly commissioned work responsive to their practice at the time.

Elvis To The Max
The King in Concert
‘Elvis to the Max’ has successfully toured Australia for over a decade, always to sell-out crowds. Max Pellicano goes beyond mere impersonation. His recreation of the King’s looks, moves, vocal style, impressions and humour is so accurate, it is truly awe-inspiring!
This Australian tour will capture Elvis through the decades, recreating the early years, the black leather of the ‘68 comeback tour, right through to the white eagle costume - featuring exact replicas made by Elvis' own tailor Bill Bellow.
There are lots of Elvis impersonators around, but Pellicano is considered the best. It seems people just can't help falling in love with Elvis to the Max!
Direct from the USA, Max Pellicano is Elvis To The Max this August at The CUBE!

Spring Paper Daisy Display
The annual spring paper daisy display at the #AustralianBG, draws thousands each spring to the Garden and requires months of preparation and planning.
Designed by Landscape Planning Officer, Geoff Duggan, the beds are situated at the base of the Connections Garden and have been featured on TV and in newspapers since the first display over 20 years ago.
Species planted as part of the display include Rhodanthe chlorocephala subsp. rosea ‘Rosy Everlasting’, Rhodanthe manglesii ‘Mangles Everlasting’ or ‘Silver Bells’ and Schoenia filifolia subsp. subulifolia ‘Showy Everlasting’.
Netting of the display is in place from the end of May when the seeds are planted and are not removed until the end of August to stop the local ducks who have a taste for the young daisies, from destroying the display.
The species used are native to Western Australia and provide a stunning display of what one would see when visiting the state during spring.
If you are yet to see the display, we recommend you visit during September when the display is at its peak.
