Locanda Italian Steakhouse excels at Fine Food Festival

The Annual Australian Fine Food Festival is the largest gathering of international food, beverage and equipment for the retail, foodservice and hospitality industries.
For 2011 Locanda Italian Steakhouse, Rydges Lakeside, competed across seven different categories in the Sydney Culinary Challenge, part of the Fine Food Festival and supported by the Australian Culinary Federation. The Locanda team competed against more than 300 chefs and were one of the most outstanding teams of the competition!
Fiorella Aguila, Commis Chef was awarded the Gold Medal in Desserts and also a Silver Medal in Entrees.
Juan Sanchez Bayona and Ivan Flores also received a Silver Medal each in the three courses restaurant competition.
Special mention goes to Sarah Ward who received 2 Merits and Kian Junjie Ye who received 1 Merit.
The two day event saw teams from various local, national and international venues. This included Chefs from Four Seasons, Hyatt, Royal Golf Club Canberra, Sydney Yacht Club, Bilson Restaurant, Melbourne and Sydney Rockpool restaurants as well as National teams from New Zealand and many more.
