Southbank Grill The Place To Dine in August

Imagine being pampered by your personal chef as he serves up seven courses to you and nine of your closest friends.

Rydges Southbank Townsville Food and Beverage Manager Amy Layton said August would be a popular month to enjoy the finest steaks in Townsville as the award-winning restaurant celebrated a new chef, the launch of a dedicated website and the city’s annual jazz festival.
“The Palmer Street Jazz Festival is on August 13-15 and as one of the most popular restaurants in the Palmer Street dining strip, Southbank Grill will be taking part,” she said.

"Over a period of 12 years the Palmer Street Jazz Festival has grown from humble beginnings to become an icon among Australian Jazz festivals featuring the cream of Australia’s most celebrated jazz musicians as well as showcasing the talents of Townsville’s local musos and rising young stars.
“At Southbank Grill diners will enjoy the Derek FitzGerald Quartet featuring Derek on piano and vocals, Doug Lye on drums, Scott Jorgensen on bass and Ross Jorgensen on sax. They will be performing by the pool on August 13 from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.

“Of course, the great music will be accompanied by even better food thanks to new chef Raymond Sheerin who returns to the Rydges group after a year aboard the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as executive sous chef.
“We welcome Raymond to Southbank Grill where he is looking forward to continuing the high level of service and exceptional grill menu which has secured the restaurant numerous awards including Best Fining Dining Restaurant and Best Hotel Restaurant at the 2008 Restaurant and Caterers Awards.”
Mr Sheerin is looking forward to hosting his first Chef’s Table for the lucky winner and their party.

“I insist on hand selected produce from the supply distribution point including our local boutique family butcher and seafood provider.
