The main branch of the excellent Queensland Museum is located in the South Bank Parklands in an area know as the Queensland Cultural Centre precinct and is very much Brisbane’s cultural and recreational heartland. Like all good museums it strikes a good balance between education and entertainment. There is a strong focus on the natural world and permanent exhibitions on Queensland flora, fauna and social history. Leading travelling exhibitions are also staged. Entry to the museum is free, but the fully interactive Sciencentre does attract an entrance charge.
