Also located in the South Bank precinct is the Queensland Maritime Museum. Pride of place amongst its collection of vintage vessels goes to HMAS Diamantina a river class WW2 frigate, which was voted as a ‘Queensland Icon’ by the National Trust in 2005. The tiny Happy II is also on display, but blink and you’ll miss it, somehow this boat, seemingly no bigger than a metal bathtub, crossed the Pacific Ocean. A must see for fans of all things nautical, but an interesting place for couple of hours for landlubbers too.
