With a collection exceeding 200,000 items, the excellent and amazingly diverse National Museum of Australia has something for everyone. Located in an ultra modern building overlooking Lake Burley Griffin, the museum attempts the massive task of accurately documenting and reflecting Australia’s social and cultural history. Exhibits range from Ned Kelly’s death mask, Phar Lap’s heart to Azaria Chamberlain’s dress recovered after her infamous disappearance from a campsite near Ayers Rock. One of the best museums you’ll ever visit and recipient of numerous tourist awards.
