A famous advertisement in the early 1970s used the tag line “reassuringly expensive” to sell a then-boutique beer. The Flower Drum, that has for over 30 years reigned supreme as Melbourne’s leading Chinese restaurant, may also have the same adage applied.
Invariably booked out weeks in advance, its sublime Cantonese food, with its emphasis on seafood, is without peer, certainly in this country. The gifted and highly skilled staff just adds to the overall experience by providing a final flourish to what is often a real culinary experience.
