Queen Victoria Markets

Ipod friendly guides | Email to a friend | Print article

For over 125 years, the Queen Victoria Markets have been like the city’s heartbeat. Generations of Melburnians have visited these vibrant and cosmopolitan markets to conduct the weekly grocery shopping or simply to meet with friends and family. Given Melbourne’s obsession with food and strong multicultural heritage, the markets have a strong focus upon varied and fresh produce. The different halls include a large organics section, a food hall and delicatessen hall. During the warmer summer months, on Wednesday evenings, the incredibly popular Night Markets attracts crowds in the thousands.
