Perth Zoo

Thankfully, zoos have evolved substantially from the dark days when caged animals were kept and viewed as simple ‘visual amusements’. Modern zoos such as Perth’s are now very much at the forefront of conservation and education. Opened in 1898 and set in a spectacular location in South Perth by the Swan River, the zoo is a top spot for both little and big kids judging by the number of David Attenborough and prophetically Steve Irwin impersonations heard on our last visit.
