The Clock Hotel led the vanguard in Surry Hills food renaissance of the early 1990s. This large bustling pub features four separate rooms and attracts a diverse inner city crowd. The first floor bistro has a good reputation and tables on the wrap-around veranda are very popular.
Other local pubs include the stylish White Horse, The Hopetoun and The Cricketers Arms Hotel. The latter establishments held the Fitzroy Cup, a legendary dog race run every Australia Day which turned a local mutt into a hero and gave one pub bragging rights over the other the following twelve months.
