Sydney Fish Markets

Ipod friendly guides | Email to a friend | Print article

To get a real slice of Sydney, a trip to the Fish Market provides an indication of just how seriously seafood is taken in this city.

Over the Christmas holiday the market operates 24 hours a day for nearly a week, just to cope with locals’ insatiable demands. Still very much a working market, it is second only to the fabled Tokyo Fish Market in Japan for the variety of fish on sale.
Apart from an amazing selection of fresh seafood to view or purchase, visitors can also sample some of the catch from the restaurants located within the complex.
