While the majority of Victorian footy fans indulge in the annual festival of AFL final fever, the Melbourne Storm have again proved to be consistently good in 2013 and finish third in NRL – that gives them a couple of cracks at making the Grand Final if need be.
To be honest, the team looked decidedly flat against the Gold Coast Titans on the weekend and they were lucky to snatch a one point win (the Titans had a legitimate try disallowed). Perhaps they were coasting psychologically because the game outcome would have no effect on how they finished on the ladder.
In the first round of finals footy, Storm will play the South Sydney Rabbitohs who have had a fairytale season thus far but when the Storm fires with the likes of Slater, Cronk and Smith at their best, they are unbeatable.
Storm and Rabbitohs play ANZ Stadium at Homebush on Friday night with kick off at 7:45pm (the warm-up Holden Cup match has the Rabbitohs taking on the NZ Warriors).
If you are travelling from out of town and need accommodation, Rydges Parramatta and Rydges Bankstown are handy to ANZ Stadium and, of course, Rydges Sydney Airport is as handy to the airport as you can get.
