If you would like to sample a Bar Surry Hills brew there’s plenty of choice with 12 beers on tap including the award-winning Lovedale Lager.

Bar Surry Hills BrewThe Lovedale Brewery is the Hunter Valley’s newest and it had a fine time at the recent Australian International Beer Awards – not only was it chosen in the top three beers in the competition out of 1560 entrants from 31 countries, it achieved ‘gold’ status winning the prestigious Australia Trophy for Best European Style Lager. If I may quote…

“A traditional Munich style lager, the beer combines three types of German hops to create a smooth citrus aroma that is complimented by a slightly toasty malt backbone. The finest Hunter Valley water is filtered for particles, which removes harsh minerals and provides a blank canvas to create an ultra-clean lager with finesse and style.”

The Lovedale Brewery was established earlier this year at the Crowne Plaza in the Hunter after being developed out of the Sydney Brewery. The Sydney Brewery also achieved success with three bronze medals for their Glamarama Summer Ale, Newtown Bitter and Potts Point Porter beers. The Sydney Brewery and Rydges Sydney Central share an owner in Jerry Schwartz, and that is why Bar Surry Hills has such an array of sensational beers on tap. Along with the above drops, the Sydney Brewery also makes Paddo Pale, Darlo Dark, Surry Hills Pils and the delightful Sydney Cider.

The brew that is trueAs they say at the brewery, “From the heart of the city, Sydney Brewery is dedicated to creating the best craft beers in Australia… brewed lovingly by hand from small batches, each variant is designed to epitomise the local style, personality and people of the suburbs that make this city great.”

Add to that the modern, fun and funky atmosphere of the Bar Surry Hills at Rydges Sydney Central plus some good conversation and you have a recipe for a great time. Bar Surry Hills and Italian Kitchen opens from 11:00am until late (from 4:00pm on Sundays) and is the perfect venue for a business lunch, after-work cocktail, romantic nightcap, private party, special event or just a good old-fashioned beer.

Here is a short video showing how the Sydney Brewery beer and cider is made:
