THE RYDGES POST

Concert ian 11/18/2013

Bon Jovi SkyscraperBon Jovi is amazing. The band from New Jersey formed in 1983 and has been packing out arenas around the world since then – this isn’t a comeback tour, just part of the ongoing journey of energetic stadium rock.

The band has played some 2700 concerts in 50 countries to 34 million fans and has sold more than 130 million records. The hit singles keep getting airplay – You Give Love a Bad Name, Livin’ on a Prayer, Bad Medicine, Wanted Dead or Alive, Bed of Roses and It’s My Lifeare just some of them.

Another attraction is the main man himself – he seems like such a great bloke. He has pretty much lived the American dream rather than the stereotypical rock star dream.

Born in 1962 as John Francis Bongiovi he picked up his first guitar at age 13 and decided on a career in music. By age 16 he was wagging school and playing the clubs. At age 21, with a name change to Jon Bon Jovi, the band was on its way. He has referred to himself as a ‘reformed Catholic’ and he married his childhood sweetheart. They are still together and have four children. He also finds a lot of time for charity work.

At 51 Jon Bon Jovi is fit, athletic, sexy and musically on top of his game. As are guitarist Richie Sambora, bassist Hugh McDonald, keyboardist David Bryan and drummer Tico Torres. The band also knows how to be fan-inclusive and has tickets for this tour starting at just $35!
