Paws for a caws…
Seven members of the Rydges South Bank banquets team recently attended a corporate volunteering day at the RSPCA in Wacol.
After a tour of the facilities the team helped out with a number of jobs including outdoor work, yard maintenance, laundry, feeding foster animals and writing up adoption notices.
The banquets team also assisted the RSPCA behavior management team in training dogs with commands such as sitting down, staying quiet, lying down, staying still and giving eye contact.
This training is extremely important as trained dogs are more likely to be adopted.
Conference and Catering Charity Convener Georgie Cesari said the team were surprised to learn the RSPCA receives very little government funding "The RSPCA relies almost solely on donations from businesses and individuals," she said. "This was a really rewarding experience for the banquets team, it felt good to be able to give back."
