Australian Botanic Gardens Mt AnnanIt would surprise many people that the Australian Botanic Garden at Mount Annan (near Campbelltown) is Australia’s largest botanic garden with more than 4000 species of native plants. An exclusive part of the garden is the Wollemi Walk of Discovery – here visitors can experience exact genetic replicas of the ancient trees found in the secret gorge in Wollemi National Park.

It is a lovely spot to visit for a picnic or BBQ (the Garden covers 416 hectares and there are five picnic areas with shelters and BBQs). There are kilometres of walking tracks, interactive sculptures, a bird watching shelter and the restaurant and café, Melaleuca House, which is great for casual dining and weekend breakfasts indoors or outdoors in the courtyard.

Here’s a link to the official Royal Botanic Gardens & Domain Trust website and, of course, for all your accommodation needs, Rydges Campbelltown will give you a warm welcome.
