It’s no surprise to we Canberrans who enjoy living in the national capital but the ACT has just been given a big thumbs up as the best place to live in Australia.
The OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development) has unveiled a massive undertaking where they measured the standard of living in regions throughout the world against each other. They used eight categories that define living standards including income, education, employment, safety, life expectancy, the environment, health and access to services.
The ACT scored 10 out of 10 for income, 9.6 out of 10 for jobs and 9 out of 10 for the environment. As a comparison, NSW scored 7.1/10 for income, 8.3/10 for jobs and Victoria was 6.4/10 for income and 8.5/10 for jobs.
The ACT’s average income was the highest of the 300 developed nations identifies by the OECD in the survey. And this, of course, flows on to lifestyle in general – people can afford to eat out and go out more which creates more jobs and more options.
Not saying that you should uproot and move –but it could be well worth a visit just to sample what we have on offer, staying of course at Rydges Capital Hill.
