Welcome to the latest accommodation property to be managed by Rydges – the stunning Esplanade Hotel Fremantle.
A lot of people consider Fremantle an extension of Perth, simply because it is only 19km away at the mouth of the Swan River, and it is pretty much a seamless run to get there, BUT it is such a rewarding destination in its own right.
It is a charming, busy, colourful old port (founded in 1829). To get a feel for ‘Freo’, head to the Cappuccino Strip (Fishing Boat Harbour and South Terrace) for an array of delightful shops and cafes. From here you can stroll the narrow streets to WA’s oldest building, the Round House. It looks ‘round’ but actually has twelve sides and was built in 1830 as a prison.
The bustling markets and cafés at Victoria Quay are also worth checking out. From here you can hop a ferry to Rottnest Island or join the crew aboard Australia’s largest tall ship, the Leeuwin. The Fremantle Arts Centre & History Museum and the Maritime Museum are rewarding… and where better to stay than the wonderful Esplanade Hotel Fremantle - by Rydges?!
