The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide Awards have long been the city’s yardstick to fine dining and QT’s Gowings Bar & Grill (Cnr George & Market Sts) has been nominated in the Best New Restaurant category, up against Monopole in Potts Point, the Kepos Street Kitchen in Redfern and MoVida in Surry Hills.

001-sepia-chef-martin-benn-tuna-with-katsuobushiThe winners will be announced on September 2. In the category of Best Restaurant, the finalists are harbour side Quay, Mr Wong in Bridge Lane, Sepia in Sussex Street, The Bridge Room in Bridge Street and the quirkily named Momofuka Seiobo in Pyrmont.

And nominated for Chef of the Year are Martin Benn (Sepia), Phil Wood (Rockpool), Ross Lusted (The Bridge Room, Ben Greeno (Monofuko Seibo) and Dan Hong (Mr Wong & Ms G’s). The photos are Martin Benn on the passe at Sepia (top) and his tuna with katsuibushi dish (right).
