THE RYDGES POST
Dust off those leather jackets, pull on the bobby-socks and take a trip to a simpler time as “bad boy” Danny and “the girl next door” Sandy fall in love all over again.
Currently in Brisbane at QPAC for a limited season, Grease is playing to rave reviews. It’s a multi-million dollar production and, as the publicity machine says, “It’’s got groove, it’s got meaning and it’s burning up the quarter mile… ELECTRIFYIN’!
It is the highest grossing movie-musical of all time and, on stage, brings a party to the theatre with hits that include Summer Nights, Sandy, Hopelessly Devoted to You, You’re The One That I Want, Greased Lightnin’, and Grease is the Word.
The Australian production stars Rob Mills is Danny, Gretel Scarlett is Sandy and the all-star cast includes Anthony Callea (Johnny Casino), Stephen Mahy (Kenickie), Lucy Maunder (Rizzo), Todd McKenney (Teen Angel), Val Lehman (Miss Lynch) and Bert Newton (Vince Fontaine).
GREASE really is “fast, furious and thrilling, an injection of raw energy… and fun, fun, fun!” (The Daily Mirror, UK)
After the Brisbane run, the show moves to Sydney Lyric at the Star in Pyrmont from October 13 and then to Her Majesty’s in Melbourne (opposite Rydges) from January 2. You can get tickets online here - http://greaseistheword.com.au/tickets/
