St Mary’s Church in Kalgoorlie is a lovely heritage listed federation-gothic style church. It was built in 1902 and its grandeur reflects the wealth of those early gold rush days. In fact, St Mary’s is known as the Church of Gold because local legend has it that the bricks used to build it came from Coolgardie and small gold deposits housed within.

While the exterior is impressive, so is the interior with its carved wooden ceilings and magnificent stained glass windows.

The church is on the corner of Brookman and Porter Streets. Here is a link to the parish website and for all your accommodation needs, Rydges Kalgoorlie Resort & Spa.
