THE RYDGES POST
You can catch Mark Seymour and The Undertow in Cairns at the Tanks Arts Centre on Friday, July 4. Doors open at 6:30pm, the support band plays from 7:30pm to 8:00pm and Mark Seymour and his band take to the stage at 8:30pm.
Mark Seymour is what they call in horseracing circles, a stayer and there but for the gift of rebellion and risk-taking goes another Aussie schoolteacher. Just as he was about to embark on that career, he set up the iconic Aussie rock band Hunters & Collectors back in 1980 with some university mates and for 18 years led the band to an amazing studio and live performance career. From 1998 he carved out another fabulous solo career where he recorded, produced, acted and composed.
He recently oversaw the reforming of Hunters & Collectors to tour with Bruce Springsteen and is now touring Australia with his band The Undertow on the back of his seventh album, Seventh Heaven Club.
He’s a powerful performer who delivers solid, honest rock with a wry sense of humour never far away between songs.
