For any overseas visitors reading this, tracky dacks are important items of clothing in any Aussie wardrobe – the term is an affectionate reference to tracksuit pants and May 1 is Tracky Dack Day in Melbourne.
Off the top of the head, five great things about tracky dacks – they are comfortable, they are not gender or age specific, they are inexpensive, they don’t need ironing and nobody’s bum looks big in them. Or everyone’s bum does. Whatever.
Anyway, if you have some tracky dacks, you can make a fashion statement PLUS be part of world record attempt on Thursday, May 1 at Federation Square in Melbourne. Just turn up from 7:30 and help smash this record out of the park – the most number of people wearing tracksuit pants in the one place at the one time – and help raise money for sick kids.
Here’s the story behind the fundraiser – sick kiddies in hospital are encouraged to get out of their pyjamas in the morning to keep a healthy mindset – changing into the tracky daks represents wellness and normality – and here’s a personal bonus – you won’t get a better excuse to be totally laid back and comfortable for a day at work!
This is just ONE day in May – schools, clubs and workplaces can choose any day in May, register for the fundraiser, then dack up and donate. You can register here.
