THE RYDGES POST
The 2014 Mindil Beach Sunset Market re-opens on the last Thursday in April when the dry season starts.
Back for its 27th year, the Mindil Market will again deliver delicious local and international food, artistic crafts and specialty market stalls, along with live entertainment from various artists, street performers, circus workshops and with Howard and Sons pyrotechnics, the now traditional fireworks display, launched approximately 8.30pm. A blessing from the traditional Chinese Dragon will also feature in the opening night program.
From its very humble beginning in 1987 when six people's vision to bring a taste of Asia night market to Darwin came to fruition, Mindil Beach Sunset Market has grown to support over 350 local businesses, providing employment for up to 1000 locals on any one evening and contributing more than $15 million to the Northern Territory economy each year.
Mindil Beach Sunset Markets spoil their visitors in a way no other event can compare - not only will you be amazed by the fine selection of creative art & craft but you will be intoxicated by the flavors and aromas that fill the warm evening air, as you relax in awe as the sun sets over the horizon.
Mindil Beach Sunset Market has become one of Darwin’s most popular tourist attractions and a favourite meeting place for locals and visitors alike.
Mindil Beach Sunset Market operates every Thursday from 5pm to 10pm and every Sunday from 4pm until 9pm (between 24th of April & end October).
