This week the Big Red Truck from MKR trundled into town for My Kitchen Rules Melbourne and the Sunday night cook off.

With the White Aprons versus the Black Aprons the claws were out and there wasn’t a crab in sight. For Chloe & Kelly and Helena & Vicki you could say it was a hit and miss affair – they wanted to hit each other and wouldn’t miss the other team if they disappeared into thin air – and they were on the same side.  The White Aprons won despite Bree & Jessica’s pears being undercooked. A spoon-resistant dessert mustn’t be as big a sin as an undercooked main because it looked like Jason & Annie’s rather rare dukkah-crusted salmon sent the Black Aprons packing.

The entrée of chilled cucumber soup with scallop ceviche served up by Harry & Christo was ‘dull’ but still got across the line… and somewhere between kitchen and table the umami broth evaporated from Josh & Danielle's Asian spiced sirloin with umami broth & pak choy. The Queensland teachers, Paul & Blair's beef carpaccio with celeriac remoulade was a ‘knockout’ according to Manu and the dish of the day went to Thalia & Bianca's orange syrup cake.
