The greatest superhero of all time has to be Superman – and he wore his undies on the outside! Every year the streets of WA turn purple with local superheroes taking the challenge to wear the iconic purple bra on the outside of their clothes to raise money for people affected by breast cancer. After raising over $420,000 in 2013, Purple Bra Day 2014 is Friday June 20. All funds raised go towards providing practical, financial and emotional support for those affected by breast cancer in WA.
This year the target is $500,000 and Breast Cancer WA is calling on all Wesern Australians – male and female, young and old, to help reach that target. There are lots of ways you can assist.
- Go to the Purple Bra Day website and register to be a hero
- Support a local hero of your choice and donate via the website
- Hold a Purple Bra Day fundraising event at work or at home
You don’t have to go shopping - Breast Cancer WA has thousands of ‘hero packs’ with bras in all sizes, but only one colour, to send to participants.
From 7:00am to 4:00pm on June 20 there will be tin rattling around the city for donations and there will be a marquee with branded merchandise in Murray Street Mall.
If you are out and about rattling a tin, feel free to drop in to Rydges Perth – who knows, you might even find some strapping lads behind the bar in purple bras whipping up an appropriately coloured cocktail.
