THE RYDGES POST
Darwin is the Territory’s capital, largest city and home to more than half of the NT population. It’s laid-back, tropical and unique. Scenically it is stunning, sitting on a beautiful harbour with plenty of terrific beaches nearby. There are lots of things to do if you like getting out and about and it is a great place to just unwind. There are some excellent restaurants, lively pubs and nightclubs to make the nights fun and the days can be filled taking in the art, culture and rich history of the city. Don’t miss the famous outdoors market on Mindil Beach during the dry season.
Darwin city and harbour attractions include the wave pool at the Darwin Waterfront Precinct, historic tours of Darwin’s WWII tunnels, the Deckchair cinema and the unique seaside eateries of Stokes Hill Wharf Precinct. Out on the water there are fishing charters, jet boating, wildlife tours and sunset dinner cruises.
An hour’s travel north will get you to the tropical Tiwi Islands and their unique indigenous artists and cultural tours. Or, travel south along the Stuart Highway to find wildlife parks, Howard Springs National Park, Berry Springs National Park, the plunging waterfalls of Litchfield National Park and the jumping crocodiles tour of Adelaide River.
