Queenstown International Jazz and Blues Festival
October 24 to October 27
This inaugural festival will be huge, thanks to the excellent line-up including Renee Geyer and the sensational Queenstown location.
The three-day live music celebration will feature more than 70 jazz and blues musicians from the USA, Australia and New Zealand over Labour Weekend. From cool blues and classy jazz to soul funk and big band swing, there’ll be something to for all fans of good music.
Headlining the festival is Australian singing legend Renee Geyer (with her amazing band) in a one-night-only performance at Queenstown Memorial Hall with Kiwi international Billy TK Jnr and UK blues maestro Paul Ubana Jones.
Another highlight of the festival will be the Mofo Party Band from California who are famous for their high energy performances and amazing harmonica playing. Considered the cream os US West Coast Blues, the Mofo Party Band toured NZ last year to packed houses.
The program also includes a special gala event of one-off performances with gigs featuring Billy TK Jnr, Paul Ubana Jones, Blues Queen Mahia Blackmore, jazz divas Lorraine Haville and Margaret Umbers, and popular local blues and jazz stars.
The festival hub will be at Steamer Wharf and free and ticketed events will be held in venues around the CBD. There are also special late night ticketed blues gigs.
