The Lion Foundation Rotorua Marathon celebrates 50 years in 2014 and will be run on Saturday, May 3. The start line is on Queens Drive within the Government Gardens. Runners start at 8:15am and the walkers head off at 8:30am – the other way around would prove to be a little chaotic!
All marathon finishers receiving a souvenir ASICS Finishers T-shirt, as well as Finishers Medal, and 50th Anniversary History Book. If you would like your medal engraved with your name and time, see Knox Engravers next to the bank of results computers (cost $5). Make sure you go under the start banner when heading off so your timing chip will be activated to record your time! Official timing ceases at 5:00pm. You can finish later but it won’t be deemed as ‘official’. Entrants have to be 18+.
Personalised drink bottles can be delivered for placement on tables at the four drinks stations – they should be clearly labelled with name, race number and station and must be delivered to the team at registration by 8:00pm the night before the race.
Fundraising for kiddies with cancer is at the heart of the race. The Lion Foundation Rotorua Marathon is proud to support the Child Cancer Foundation. You can show your support by creating your own fundraising page here and raise money while you run/walk your way around the lake.
