THE RYDGES POST
Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon
Sunday, May 19
Not having run a marathon I don’t know whether participants get to appreciate the view, but there can’t be a more scenically spectacular course in the world. The prestigious Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon course weaves entrants around landmarks such as the Harbour Bridge, The Rocks and the Sydney Opera House.
Marathon runners make up quite a ‘club’ – regardless of how fast runners can go, there is a camaraderie between all contestants who understand what it takes to go the distance. Come to think of it, the faster frontrunners get the easier race because they don’t suffer as long…
Sport aside, last year this event raised more than $1 million and this year's fundraising goal amount is set even higher! Over 10,000 runners pound the pavement to raise funds for various charities including the Breast Cancer Network Australia.
