THE RYDGES POST
Sometimes the Great Barrier Reef can be better than just ‘great’. Your humble blogger’s son, James, and a mate recently had a couple of weeks diving the reef – the first stint was a few days on the reef to upgrade their PADI accreditation to ‘Advanced’ and then it was a week out on a liveaboard boat to enjoy the coral and marine life.
James says it was more than sensational – it was close on the best week of his life to date! They had 26 dives and got up close and personal with minke whales, sharks, giant turtles, big potato cods and lots of lovely nemos. The photo above is one James took during a shark-feeding dive at Osprey Reef. Oh... and for the few nights they had on terra firma they stayed at both Rydges Tradewinds and Rydges Esplanade Resort, explored Cairns on pushbike, dined out and also fell in love the TNQ's main city.
