Fans will be thrilled to catch Kris Kristofferson in Townsville at the Townsville Entertainment Centre on Saturday, April 26 to enjoy his creativity and reflections on his life journey..
The words ‘legend’ and ‘icon’ get bandied about fairly loosely these days but they sit comfortably with Kris Kristofferson.
He is much more than a Country Music Hall of Famer – he is a versatile writer, performer, raconteur, musician and thinker who has packed a lot of living and a lot of achievement into his 76 years.
Kristofferson has been, at various times in his life, a boxer, a football player, a Rhodes Scholar, an actor, a helicopter pilot, a military officer and a Grammy award-winner. This evening should be an intimate and rewarding insight into a man who prides himself on the honesty and openness in his song writing and attitude to life – and, of course, he will be performing some classic songs like Me and Bobby McGee, Sunday Morning Coming Down, For the Good Times and Help Me Make It Through the Night as well as tracks from his most recent (and 28th!) album, Feeling Mortal.
Leave you with this quote from the man himself:
“I always try to be as honest as I can in the songwriting, otherwise there’s no point in doing it: I might as well be doing an advertising job or something. And what I’m finding, to my pleasant surprise at this age, is that I’m more inclined to laughter than tears. I hope I’ll feel this creative and this grateful until they throw dirt over me.”
If you are travelling from out of town to catch Kris Kristofferson in concert, Rydges Southbank will make you welcome.
