Bears Junior & Cubs Baseball Club have scored a home run with Rydges Hotels and Resorts in Far North Queensland pledging exclusive, naming rights sponsorship of A & B Grade teams for the next two to three years.
This latest addition to a long list of sporting sponsorships in the Far Northern community underpins Rydges’ ethos to nurture sporting partnerships on a local level. This latest agreement adds to those already established with Skytrans Cairns Taipains, Peninsula School Sport, FNQ Rugby, AFL Cairns and AFL Juniors and the Great Barrier Reef Masters Games.
“As a group Rydges is committed to supporting local enterprise. We particularly recognise the importance of sport and recreation in the lives of children and teenagers and all the many positive spin offs that go with it,” said Natalie Dean, Director of Sales and Marketing Rydges Hotels and Resorts FNQ.
Rydges’ agreement dovetails an agreement by Cairns Regional Council to provide funding to improve the pitch and provide better seating for local spectators.
“We are extremely excited to be sponsors of the Cubs and look forward to an exciting season in 2014 for the team,” she said.
According to John Tolentini, Cubs representative, Bears Junior & Cubs Baseball Club Inc. has been an active, vibrant participant in the Brinsmead/Redlynch/Lake Placid/Freshwater/Stratford and Caravonica Community for the past 13 years and has been magnificently supported through both senior and junior programs.
“As a baseball club we have provided an avenue for hundreds of local players to come together and play baseball whilst enjoying the camaraderie and social opportunity that a sporting club can provide. Since our inception in 1996 we have been a successful baseball club winning many premierships over the years. We have always been well represented in the junior grades and with our wonderful partnership with the seniors it provides our players with a great opportunity to continue their baseball career with an incredibly successful club.”
Bears Junior Baseball play a major role in the participation and development of junior baseball in Under 8's (Tee Ball), Under 10's (Rookie Ball), Under 12's (Little League), U14's, U16's and CUBS Baseball Club with the U18’s & Seniors, with many of these players going on to NQ and QLD representative duties as well as several senior players playing in the U.S.A. and Japanese College systems.
Mr Tolentini said the Club is very grateful and buoyed by Rydges’ support that will enable them to purchase new uniforms for the A and B Grade Senior teams.
