The Hordern Pavilion in Moore Park’s entertainment quarter has become pretty much a Sydney icon for hosting concerts. It was actually built 90 years ago as an exhibition space for the Royal Easter Show when the Sydney Showground was home to the annual event. Acts appearing in July at the Hordern include Lorde, London Grammar, Lily Allen and Childish Gambino.
Lorde's rescheduled April/May concerts which were postponed due to illness are on Friday July 11 and Saturday July 12. On Thursday July 24 London Grammar will perform in an already sold-out show and the following night (Friday, July 25) the lovely Lily Allen will take to the stage. Sunday, July 26 is also a sell-out for Childish Gambino’s only headline Australian show. This one was initially scheduled for Luna Park as the venue but demand was so strong they had to find a bigger venue (the Hordern seats 5500).
If you are travelling from out of town to catch any of the Hordern Pavilion concerts Rydges World Square is handy in the CBD (just head up Liverpool and Oxford Street and right at Taylor Square to Anzac Parade) and the new Rydges Sydney Central is also a walk away, at 28 Albion Street, Surry Hills (again, just up Albion Street and on to Anzac Parade to Moore Park).
