UCI Mountain Biking World Cup in Cairns
Cairns will host the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup at Smithfield Rainforest from April 25th to 27th 2014.
Dubbed the ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ Cairns and the tropical trails in Smithfield will become the world stage of mountain biking when the world’s fastest riders go head to head in the Round 2 of the 2014 UCI World Cup series.

Renown for its carnival atmosphere and colourful stallholders, Rusty’s boats over 180 stalls featuring exotic fruit, vegetables, and flowers, sumptuous delicatessens with fresh breads, diary, and seafood, a host of international food and beverage stalls, an abundance of bric-a-brac and specialty products including; clothing, jewellery, coffee, and chocolate.

ANZAC Day is commemorated in Cairns with dawn parade from 5.30am with wreath laying at the Cairns Cenotaph on Cairns Esplanade (opposite Cairns RSL).
The Commemoration Parade will leave from Fogarty Park on Cairns Esplanade at 9.15am and proceed along the Esplanade to Munro Martin Park. This will then be followed by an Observance Ceremony from 9.30am at Munro Martin Park.

Bliss N Eso Circus Under the Star Tour
Bliss N Eso will be in Cairns on April 26th for their Circus Under the Stars Tour; which will see them performing in open air arenas in 15 locations across Australia.
They will perform live at Fogarty Park on the Cairns Esplanade from 5.00pm, with great supporting acts Seth Sentry & Horrorshow.

Tanks Arts Centre Market Day
The Tanks Arts Center Sunday Markets have returned for 2014!
Held on the last Sunday of every month between April and November at the Tanks Arts Centre in the Cairns Botanic Gardens Precinct; the markets showcase a range of local arts and crafts, fresh produce, natural health products, collectables, and vintage clothing.
Set amid the lush, tropical surrounds of the Flecker Botanical Gardens with live entertainment, workshops and art exhibitions, the markets showcase the unique culture and life of the tropics. This free event from 9.00am to 2.00pm is a family friendly and relaxing way to enjoy a Sunday morning.

Blues Lounge Series
The Cairns Blues Festival has been replaced this year with a series of small events known as the Blues Lounge Series.
Blues Lounge session one will be held at the stunning pool deck at Rydges Plaza Cairns on the corner of Grafton and Spence streets.
National award wining Melbourne based artists Jules Boult & the Redeemers will entertain fans in the open air venue on May 3rd from 6.30pm with supporting act Carinda Christie. Tickets are $25 and available on the night at door through Lilo Bar.

Cairns Children's Festival
The Tanks Arts Centre are proud to present the first Cairns Children's Festival on May 4th 2014. This exciting festival designed specifically for children aged up to 12 years promises to deliver fun, interactive and diverse activities, events, music, perfomances and workshops to engage children and encourage creativity, learning and discovery.
This one day event will transform the Tanks Arts Centre precinct into a children's wonderland with Tank 3 housing the fantastic Erth's Dinosaur Zoo performance with life-like dinosaur puppets taking children and adults alike on a prehistoric tour of Australia. Tank 4 will house the interactive and 'messy' construction and art-based activities and workshops designed to get children and parents engaged together, and Tank 5 will offer a barrel of laughs with the play-acting space and all day entertainment with children's theatre.

Erth's Dinosaur Zoo in Cairns
The fantastic not-to-be-missed Erth's Dinosaur Zoo will be in Cairns on May 4th at the Tanks Arts Centre as part of the Cairns Children's Festival.
This brilliant show takes the audience on a prehistoric journey of the southern hemisphere with dazzling life-like dinosaur puppets using sophisticated design and electronics to bring them to life.
The theatrical performance includes cute baby dinosaurs craddled in the actors arms to mammals, insects and terrifyingly life-like predators that will delight children and adults alike.
This ticketed event is recommended for children aged 4 and up, but younger children are welcome at parents discretion. Tickets are $15 per human or $50 for a group of 4 humans through ticketlink with 3 show times at 9.30am, 11.30am and 1.30pm.

Annually, the locally famous Babinda Harvest Festival brings the small town to life with celebration of Tropical Produce throughout the Region. This large community event recognises the start of our prosperous sugar cane season each year and showcases what the Tropical North has to offer from Bananas to Tropical Flowers.

Cardiac Challenge 2014
The Cardiac Challenge is a three day, 333 kilometre camping and recreational cycle ride held annually in Far North Queensland.
The route includes some of the most stunning scenery in the Wet Tropics and gorgeous National Parks of the Far North starting in Cairns and progressing inland through the Kuranda range, the beautiful scenic roads of the Tablelands, and finishing in Cooktown.
The Cardiac Challenge’s mission is to fundraise for the FNQ Hospital Foundation to purchase specialized equipment for improved cardiac care services in Far North Queensland.

Cairns Amateurs 2014
The Cairns Amateurs Racing Carnival is four days of fun, fashion, glamour, food and entertainment built around two days of horse racing in Cairns in early September each year.
Operated by the Far North Queensland Amateur Turf Club Inc., their event has become widely, and affectionately, known as "The Cairns Amateurs". The Cairns Amateurs is complemented by a host of social activities, some formal and some very informal including a number of Members-only and corporate functions as well as events and areas for the general public on both race days.
The beautiful mild September climate entices large crowds of locals as well as interstate visitors.
