Cairn Regional Council offers FREE Active Living Fitness classes on and around Cairns Esplanade every week including Aqua Aerobics every Monday at 6.30am at the Cairn Lagoon Pool.
This low impact fitness class is great for all ages, fitness levels and swiming abilities. All you need to bring are swimming togs and a towel.

Join the bouldering class every Tuesday at 5.00pm at the Bouldering Park on the Cairns Esplanade (weather permitting).
Bouldering; is a type of rock climbing that involves no ropes or harnesses at low height. It allows participants to focus on their climbing technique and develop skills in a fun and safe environment. From beginner to advance, this class suits all abilities and fitness levels.

UCI Mountain Biking World Cup in Cairns
The spot light will be on Cairns this April when the UCI Moutain Biking World Cup hits the tropical trails of Smithfield.
Some of the world's best riders will compete in Round 2 of the World Cup between 25th - 27th April on the world class trails that wind through the World Heritage listed rainforest.

A dawn parade is held from 5.30am with wreath laying at the Cairns Cenotaph on Cairns Esplanade (opposite Cairns RSL). The Commemoration Parade will be at 9.15am from Fogarty Park along the Esplanade to Munro Martin Park, followed by an Observance Ceremony from 9.30am at Munro Martin Park.

Tanks Arts Centre Market Day
The Tanks Arts Centre present their ever popular Sunday Markets again in 2014.
The last Sunday of every month between April and November sees the Cairns Botanic Gardens Precint and Tanks Arts Centre come alive with local arts, crafts, collectables, fresh produce, art exhibitions, music, unique and vintage clothing and natural health products.
This FREE event showcases the unique and relaxed lifestyle and culture of Far North Queensland and all set amounst the beautiful Botanic Gardens.

Blues Lounge at Lilo
The Cairns Blues Festival has taken a different tone this year with the Blues Lounge Series announced instead. This will see a series of Blues Sessions held over multiple dates and locations, with the first Blue Lounge Session to be held at Lilo Pool Deck.

Cairns Children's Festival
The inaugural Cairns Children's Festival, presented at the iconic Tanks Arts Centre in Cairns, will provide a fun, diverse, unique and interactive children's programme over one day on May 4th.
Children up to 12 years will be entertained with roving entertainers, music, workshops, performances and activities in and around the tanks.
Tank 3 will house the fantastic Erth's Dinosaur Zoo show, which is a ticketed event with shows at 9.30am, 11.00am and 1.30pm.
Tank 4 will be transformed into the 'tinkering tank' with children encourage to get involved with the art-based play and workshops.
Tank 5 will offer an environment for play-acting and creativity with childrens theartre performances.

Babinda Harvest Festival
The Babinda Harvest Festival is an annual Babinda event. In this sugar town, it celebrates the start of the sugarcane harvest (mid June), as well as celebrating the harvesting of other tropical produce from our region – bananas, pawpaws, tropical flowers and vanilla to name a few.
Celebrate with the community by attending the street parade and cheer as decorated floats and marching groups parade along the decorated main street. Follow the parade to the Babinda showgrounds for a wonderful evening of country fair displays, competitions, amusements & rides, followed by one of the most spectacular fireworks displays in the North with a bar and band until midnight.

Cairns Ukulele Festival
The Cairns Ukulele Festival is an exciting and eclectic multi-arts festival celebrating a love for all things Ukulele! Held in Tropical North Queensland in Cairns; the festival runs over one week offering a number of events such as free and ticketed performances, an art exhibition, a mystery tour, ukulele building classes, and a world record attempt for the largest ukulele ensemble.
The 2014 festival will take place from 3rd to 6th July and will appeal to music lovers of all ages. Featuring world-class national and international acts and a diverse range of activities in a fun, friendly and inclusive atmosphere the Cairns Ukulele Festival is not to be missed!

The Cardiac Challenge is a three day, 333 kilometre camping and recreational cycle ride held annually in Far North Queensland.
The route includes some of the most stunning scenery in the Wet Tropics and gorgeous National Parks of the Far North starting in Cairns and progressing inland through the Kuranda range, the beautiful scenic roads of the Tablelands, and finishing in Cooktown.
The Cardiac Challenge’s mission is to fundraise for the FNQ Hospital Foundation to purchase specialized equipment for improved cardiac care services in Far North Queensland.

Cairns Underwater Film Festival
The 8th annual Cairns Underwater Film Festival will be held on August 30th at the Cairns Civic Theatre. The festival showcases work from local and international photographers and film makers, offering a glimpse into the diverse and natural beauty of our underwater ecosystems.
The competition offers both experienced and novice photographers and film makers the chance to delight spectators with world-class imagery in multiple categories including; wide angle, macro, diver(s), young photographer (under 16 years) and international.

Cairns Amateurs 2014
The Cairns Amateurs Racing Carnival is four days of fun, fashion, glamour, food and entertainment built around two days of horse racing in Cairns in early September each year.
Operated by the Far North Queensland Amateur Turf Club Inc., their event has become widely, and affectionately, known as "The Cairns Amateurs". The Cairns Amateurs is complemented by a host of social activities, some formal and some very informal including a number of Members-only and corporate functions as well as events and areas for the general public on both race days.
The beautiful mild September climate entices large crowds of locals as well as interstate visitors.
