Leukemia Foundation; Light the Night 2015
Light the Night brings people together to honour the memory of those we have lost and celebrate those who have survived or currently undergoing treatment from blood Cancer. A night to hold your lantern high and hold on to the memories, and treasure life. Shine a gold lantern to remember a loved one, white to reflect on your life, or blue to show support.
Join hundreds of people and walk with the Leukaemia Foundation to show your support. At sunset on October 9th hundreds will ‘light the night’ across Queensland at 13 different locations. The Cairns walk commences at Fogarty Park Cairns Esplanade and continues along the picturesque boardwalk up to Cairns Base Hospital.

The Crocodile Trophy
The Crocodile Trophy will kick off in Cairns, with over 100 competitiors entered in 2014. The bike tour starts in our sunny city, and continues through the outback and most beautiful and rural areas of FNQ, finally finishing in Port Douglas.
The Crocodile Trophy 2015 will see defending champion Greg Saw return with the intention of defending the title.

Tastes of the Tablelands Festival
The Tastes of the Tablelands is back for 2015 and promises to bigger and better than ever! Poudly hosted by the Rotary Club of Atherton, this tropical, family friendly event will be held at the Chinese Temple Grounds on Herberton Road on October 18th from 9.00am to 4.00pm.
Atherton is only an hour and a half drive from Cairns, making this a fantastic day trip to experience all that Tropical North Queensland and the Tablelands has to offer. There will be food stall, produce direct from farmers, cooking demonstrations, competitions, markets, local entertainment, a children's area and alcoholic beverages available at this licensed event.

Tableland Folk Festival 2015
The Tablelands Folk Festival will held at Yungabarra heritage village again this year from October 22nd - 25th showcasing a wide range of music from Australian Folk to Jazz and Gypsy Swing to Reggae.
Tickets start from $85.00 for the weekend and there are camping space available. The Tablelands Folk Festival is Queenslands longest running folk festival and includes family entertainment, workshops, traditional bush dance, jam sessions, market stalls and much more.
Fun in the Sun Festival 2015
Head to Fogarty Park on October 25th to celebrate at the Fun in the Sun Festival!
The Fun in the Sun festival is aimed at supporting and celebrating local commerce through promoting local business and encouraging the community to interact.
There will be good-old-fashion fun and games, local performers and entertainment, amusement stalls, community and local business groups and a fireworks spectacular.

Tanks Arts Centre Market Day
The Tanks Arts Center Sunday Markets have returned for 2014!
Held on the last Sunday of every month between April and November at the Tanks Arts Centre in the Cairns Botanic Gardens Precinct; the markets showcase a range of local arts and crafts, fresh produce, natural health products, collectables, and vintage clothing.
Set amid the lush, tropical surrounds of the Flecker Botanical Gardens with live entertainment, workshops and art exhibitions, the markets showcase the unique culture and life of the tropics. This free event from 9.00am to 2.00pm is a family friendly and relaxing way to enjoy a Sunday morning.
Great Barrier Reef Marathon Festival
Port Douglas will come alive on November 1st with runners from across the country and the globe joining the Great Barrier Reef Marathon Festival.

Port Douglas Marlin Challenge
The annual Port Douglas Marlin Challenge is back for 2015 from November 5th to 8th. This event attracts anglers from all over Australia and Internationally to try their luck on the Marlin Coast, which is known for some of the best Marlin fishing world wide.
Briefing for the event will be held on November 4th and registrations must be completed by October 31st.
Carols on the Knob
Yorkey's Knob, just 15 minutes North of Cairns will once again host Carols on the Knob this Christmas on 6th December from 5pm - 8pm.
This family friendly and fun local event helps to spread the Christmas cheer with carol singing, entertainment and community spirit. Head to the knob with your picnic rug, and a chair to enjoy a festive event.

April 25th this year will mark the anniversary of the Australia New Zealand Army Corps landing at Gallipolli. ANZAC Day commemorates those soliders and all soliders that have served and died in all wars, confilcts and peace keeping missions.
To remember those who have fallen this ANZAC day there will be a dawn parade from 5.30am at the Cairns Cenotaph on the Esplanade followed by a Commemoration Parade at 9.15am from Forgarty Park to Munro Martin Park and an Observance Ceremony at 9.30am.
