Get active every Tuesday at 5.00pm with a FREE Bouldering Class at the Bouldering Park on the Cairns Esplanade opposite Cairns Base Hospital (weather permitting).
Bouldering is essentially rock climbing at a low height without ropes or harnesses. It is designed to allow participants to learn basic skills and develop their climbing technique in a fun and safe environment. This class is for all levels from beginner to advance, all you need is water, a towel and a pair of shoes.
Best of all... this class is FREE, so give bouldering a go this Tuesday!

UCI Mountain Biking World Cup in Cairns
The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup will be returning to Cairns this year when the world's top riders take on the Smithfield Rainforest tracks from April 25th to 27th in the second round of the Cup Series.

April 25th this year will mark the 99th anniversary of the Australia New Zealand Army Corps landing at Gallipolli. ANZAC Day commemorates those soliders and all soliders that have served and died in all wars, confilcts and peace keeping missions.
To remember those who have fallen this ANZAC day there will be a dawn parade from 5.30am at the Cairns Cenotaph on the Esplanade followed by a Commemoration Parade at 9.15am from Forgarty Park to Munro Martin Park and an Observance Ceremony at 9.30am.

Tanks Arts Centre Market Day
The Tanks Arts Centre Markets will be held on the last Sunday of every month between April and November 2014.
Head to the Botanic Garden Precinct on Collins Avenue between 9.00am and 2.00pm for family friendly markets offering local produce, arts and crafts, live music, art exhibitions, vintage clothing, food and beverage stalls, tropical plants, and natural health products.

Cairns Blues Lounge Series
The annual Cairns Blues Festival has changed this year with the main festival being replaced by a series of smaller gigs over extended dates in and around Cairns.
The first Blues Lounge session will be at the Lilo pool deck at Rydges Plaza Cairns on May 3rd from 6.30pm with tickets available on the door for $25.
Jules Boult and the Redeemers are set to perform at this fantastic location with Carinda Christie as their supporting act. So grab some friends, a drink for Lilo Bar and spend the evening taking in the tunes and surrounds of the first ever Blues Lounge.

Cairns Children's Festival
The inaugural Cairns Children's Festival, at the Tanks Arts Centre is an exciting new event aimed at creating a fun and interactive event for kids aged up to 12 years.
On May 4th the Tanks Arts Centre precinct will come alive with activities, music, exhibitions and performancea designed just for children.
Tank 3 will showcase Erth's Dinosaur Zoo, a not-to-be-missed show that takes you on a prehistoric journey with life-like dinosaur puppets, suitable for children over 4 years. Tickets are $15 and available from the Tanks Arts Centre website below.
Tank 4 known as the 'tinkering tank' will house workshops and activities designed to encourage interaction between both children and parents, while Tank 5 will allow children to let their imaginations run wild with play-acting and childrens theatre.

Port Douglas Carnivale
The Carnivale returns to Port Douglas this year between May 16th to May 25th, celebrating 20 years since it's inceptions and celebrating everything the Tropcial North Queensland offers!
The 10 day festival provides fun and entertainment for all ages with a huge line up of events, from free events such as The Macrossan Street Parade, Sunday Markets, street entertainers and music to ticketed events to raise funds for the community such as the Sheraton Mirage Longest Lunch and the Food, Wine and A Taste of Port.

Babinda Harvest Festival
The Babinda Harvest Festival is an annual Babinda event. In this sugar town, it celebrates the start of the sugarcane harvest (mid June), as well as celebrating the harvesting of other tropical produce from our region – bananas, pawpaws, tropical flowers and vanilla to name a few.
Celebrate with the community by attending the street parade and cheer as decorated floats and marching groups parade along the decorated main street. Follow the parade to the Babinda showgrounds for a wonderful evening of country fair displays, competitions, amusements & rides, followed by one of the most spectacular fireworks displays in the North with a bar and band until midnight.

Cairns Airport Adventure Festival 2014

Cairns Ukulele Festival
The Cairns Ukulele Festival is an exciting and eclectic multi-arts festival celebrating a love for all things Ukulele! Held in Tropical North Queensland in Cairns; the festival runs over one week offering a number of events such as free and ticketed performances, an art exhibition, a mystery tour, ukulele building classes, and a world record attempt for the largest ukulele ensemble.
The 2014 festival will take place from 3rd to 6th July and will appeal to music lovers of all ages. Featuring world-class national and international acts and a diverse range of activities in a fun, friendly and inclusive atmosphere the Cairns Ukulele Festival is not to be missed!

The Cardiac Challenge is a three day, 333 kilometre camping and recreational cycle ride held annually in Far North Queensland.
The route includes some of the most stunning scenery in the Wet Tropics and gorgeous National Parks of the Far North starting in Cairns and progressing inland through the Kuranda range, the beautiful scenic roads of the Tablelands, and finishing in Cooktown.
The Cardiac Challenge’s mission is to fundraise for the FNQ Hospital Foundation to purchase specialized equipment for improved cardiac care services in Far North Queensland.

Cairns Underwater Film Festival
The 8th annual Cairns Underwater Film Festival will be held on August 30th at the Cairns Civic Theatre. The festival showcases work from local and international photographers and film makers, offering a glimpse into the diverse and natural beauty of our underwater ecosystems.
The competition offers both experienced and novice photographers and film makers the chance to delight spectators with world-class imagery in multiple categories including; wide angle, macro, diver(s), young photographer (under 16 years) and international.

Cairns Amateurs 2014
The Cairns Amateurs Racing Carnival is four days of fun, fashion, glamour, food and entertainment built around two days of horse racing in Cairns in early September each year.
Operated by the Far North Queensland Amateur Turf Club Inc., their event has become widely, and affectionately, known as "The Cairns Amateurs". The Cairns Amateurs is complemented by a host of social activities, some formal and some very informal including a number of Members-only and corporate functions as well as events and areas for the general public on both race days.
The beautiful mild September climate entices large crowds of locals as well as interstate visitors.

Reef Feast, the Best of Palm Cove
Palm Cove will come alive this October with Reef Feast - the best of Palm Cove. Held over 3 days this 'feast' highlights the regions produce and chefing talent with stalls lining the streets offering tempting dishes.
Local restaurants and cafes will be displaying enticing menus while the main day will see the Palm Cove promenade lined with stalls offering cooking demonstrations, local produce and tasting plates prepared by some of the regions best chefs.
