Tasmania is the nations' top producer, after cleaning up the national dairy awards.
Tasmania has scooped the top cheese award taking three of the 20 product classes announced at Dairy Australia's Australian Grand Dairy Awards in Melbourne yesterday. The Swiss-style cheese Tasmanian Heritage St Claire - from one of Australia's oldest specialty producers in the North West was named the prestigious Grand Champion Cheese, whihc is presented to the highest scoring product.
Pyendana Dairy's Cheddar and King Island Dairy's Belgian Chocolate dessert were named champion semi-hard and eye cheese, champion cheddar-style cheese and champion dairy dessert, repectively.
