As they say, if you are looking for things to do in Melbourne, just look up. Eureka Skydeck is an amazing attraction with a unique point of view. Situated in the heart of Southbank in the iconic Eureka Tower, the 88^th floor Skydeck stands at a staggering 297 metres above the streets of Melbourne – and it only takes 38 seconds to get up there in the fastest elevator in the Southern Hemisphere. When you do get up there, it is sightseeing like no other with 360 degree views from floor to ceiling – you get to look down and out to take in the MCG, Flinders St Station, Albert Park Lake, Port Phillip Bay, the Dandenong Ranges and beyond. Skydeck is open from 10:00am until 10:00pm every day, with final admission at 9:30pm. (On Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve closing time is 5:30pm with final admission at 5:00pm).

It is the highest public observation deck in the Southern Hemisphere and visitors get to see the city landmarks by day and the dazzling city lights at night. Melbourne’s notoriously unpredictable weather provides an ever-changing lens through which to enjoy the spanning panorama of the city – no two days are the same from the Skydeck.

The Skydeck is also the home to the world’s first and only Edge Experience – a glass cube that projects out from the building with you inside. This one is not for the faint heated and you don’t need to book ahead – make the call when you are there. Some have used it to conquer their fear of heights… some have used it to drop on one knee and propose.

A sonic dimension to the visual Skydeck experience, Sights and Sounds brings to life the sights of greater Melbourne – as you move around the deck, a composed soundscape is triggered, evoking Melbourne’s landmarks (like the roar of Formula 1 race car engines, for example, when looking out to Albert Park Lake’s Grand Prix circuit).
