Lansdown Summer: A Festival of Opera and Melodrama
Lansdown Summer is an annual, classical music festival of narrated opera and melodrama. Presented in a beautifulcountry house surrounded by one of the finest heritage gardens in the Christchurch area.
The unique characteristic of Lansdown Summer is its narropera performance style, an innovative, presentational format of music and storytelling, in which the essence of complex works, such as operas and dramatic oratorios, is revealed through clarity of narration and directness of chamber music.
Each narropera is crafted to last 70-75 minutes and is presented without interval. Patrons are able to picnic in the stunning, river-bounded gardens, either before of after each festival performance, and there is adequate car parking within the grounds for all patrons.
