Rydges Mount Panorama Bathurst
Bathurst 12 Hour Race
The Bathurst 12 Hour (currently the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour) is an endurance race for GT and production cars held on Mount Panorama Race Circuit.
FIRST HELD in 1991, the Bathurst 12 Hour started its life as a race for production-based vehicles before becoming a race for international GT vehicles in 2011.
The race was initially held for four years between 1991-1994, before moving to Sydney’s Eastern Creek Raceway (now Sydney Motorsport Park) in 1995. The race remained on hiatus until it returned to Mount Panorama, Bathurst in Easter, 2007, with new promoters.
The Liqui-Moly 12 hour features performance and production cars from all over the world. Despite 13 safety car interruptions, the 2016 race was run at a breakneck pace and was the fastest ever set. During the race, van Gisbergen set the new outright Bathurst lap record (2m01.567s) having gone even quicker in qualifying on Saturday. In 2016 five different brands finished in the top five and the 297 laps completed by the winner was the most on record.
