The annual Campbelltown Fire and Rescue Open Day happens this Saturday, May 17 at Narellan Fire Station (12 Exchange Parade) and St Andrews Fire Station (Cnr Campbelltown Rd and Ben Lomond Rd).
Lots of kiddies (and adults) have a bit of a fascination with fire trucks, fire fighters and, indeed, fires. More than 80,000 people are expected to drop into their local fire station for this annual open day between 10:00am and 2:00pm.
The fire stations will open their doors to allow visitors a personal glimpse at how the busy fire and rescue service operates. The Open Day also coincides with the launch of this year’s Winter Fire Safety Campaign.
Visitors will be able to speak to firefighters about fire safety with specifics on how to install and maintain smoke alarms and how to develop a home escape plan. While we associate bushfires with summer, fire deaths actually peak in the winter months when things go wrong in the home.
Other attractions on Open Day include tours, demonstrations, inspections of the firefighting equipment and trucks. There will also be showbag giveaways and activities for the kiddies.
And, of course, Rydges Campbelltown is handy for a drink, snack, meal or all your accommodation needs.
